SFFL- 2014 – Week 9

So, this week Mahon passed along a little research he did while he was bored at work. He compiled everyone’s Head 2 Head records against everyone else, but since He and Keith only entered the league in 2010 he was missing the data from 2009. I updated it, but kept them separate so you can see how things have shaken down. It’s actually really cool to see some of the different records and who has really become serious rivals… be it having just a ton of games played against each other or really close win/loss totals. Anyways, there is a section below that I have added because this seems to be something that is fairly easy to update going forward since the bulk of the work is finished. I also have included to Hi’s and Low’s for each team and some different notes. Check them out in the new section.

I also added a chart for the weekly power rankings. It just shows where everyone has been each week up until now, their average power ranking for the season. You can see everyone’s high and low as well as trends for the season.

All-Time Head 2 Head Records

Some info on this section….

When you look at the tables you need to know a few things. The left column is from 2010-Current and the right column is from 2009-Current. Each of the 12 teams has a section in both columns where you can see their head-2-head record with each other opponent. Also, this DOES INCLUDE ALL PLAYOFF GAMES (WINNERS AND LOSERS).

The other thing is the colors. I have each teams section sorted by best Win % to worst, but the colors mean a few things.
Yellow (This means that the team has not suffered any losses against that opponent)
Red (This means that the has not won any games against that opponent)

For teams that do not have Red/Yellow or either I use Blue and Orange.
Blue (This means that is the teams best Win % against another team)
Orange (This means that is the teams worst Win % against another team)

Now for a few little stats on the Numbers….

NOTE: These will all be TOP 3’s and from 2009-Current

SFFL – 2014 – Week 7

You may have noticed the section ‘Other Dates & Weeks’ that I said I would do an update regarding probabilities. Starting this week and going forward I will have the numbers and graphs for every teams probability of making the playoffs, winning their division, and winning the ‘Ship. There is a little more info in that section of the update on how they come about. There are also Magic Numbers for each team that is in the driver seat.

Other than that, Pat has added some stuff to his Alternate Standings, including the remaining Strength of Schedule for each team. Also, for those of you who have not been reading it, he has been putting some statistical notes on each update. So, check it out.

Probabilities and Magic Numbers

So, just a little info on these numbers. They are generated with an algorithm that takes into consideration your teams previous performances and your opponents (who you play each week going forward) previous performances. With those numbers it simulates every game for the rest of the season a bunch of times and spits out the percentages. It’s not an exact science, but it’s nice to look at.

SFFL – 2014 – Week 6

I was not going to do anything special again this week, but would feel too bad if I did that two weeks in a row. So, for this week’s intro I am going to take each team and give a quick sentence, give their best starting position, their worst starting position, and if I think they will make the playoffs. THIS IS ALL OPINION AND BS. Just enjoy the read. I’ll go by reverse standings.

Suck My Ditka
Snip: If only Manning could make Fantasy WR more consistent. RB position is lacking even more.
Best: QB
Worst: WR
Playoffs: No

Revis and Butthead
Snip: Can’t get these huge injuries with a 1-4 record. Need wins now.
Best: QB
Worst: FLEX
Playoffs: No

Mountain Men
Snip: The Message Board says a lot with Points Against. RB’s are really struggling though.
Best: WR
Worst: RB
Playoffs: No

Champs Balsagna
Snip: Made some moves and looks like the are ready to make a push. If Brady pick’s it up, could really be tough.
Best: WR
Worst: QB
Playoffs: First Team Out

|\/|cNair’s Mayhem
Snip: Started strong and has been downhill since, needs everyone to click at the same time.
Best: FLEX
Worst: TE
Playoffs: No

Keystone St. of Mind
Snip: This team is actually really good. Just stuck in a tough division and losing AP is still pretty extreme.
Best: TE
Worst: QB
Playoffs: No

Monday Nightshift
Snip: Two Stud RB. One needs to stay healthy and the other needs to turn it up. T. Williams has been a nice pick. Once of the best all around starting 9.
Best: RB
Worst: QB
Playoffs: Yes: Will Win Division (3 Seed)

MSIDE’s Year
Snip: Forte was amazing last week. Needs more consistency from WR. Julius has scored every week for 7 total.
Best: TE
Worst: QB
Playoffs: Yes (4 Seed)

Cordarrelle Patterson
Snip: Best team IMO. Should be undefeated. 3 Great RB options. Curious to see how Mathews is upon return.
Best: RB
Worst: QB
Playoffs: Yes: Will Win Division and Get Bye (1 Seed)

The Beefalo’s
Snip: Hilton has literally gotten better every week (9,12,13,16,18) and Tate could see some huge games if Mega is out. Needs to start the right guys.
Best: WR
Worst: TE
Playoffs: Yes (6 Seed)

Krack
Snip: Great talent everywhere on this team, they just need to produce. When everything is clicking this team could rival ‘FU’ for best overall.
Best: WR
Worst: TE
Playoffs: Yes: Will Win Division and Get Bye (2 Seed)

Lawrenceville United
Snip: Needs more consistency from RB and Ellington to stay healthy. Jimmy not missing any time would be huge. Odell (ODB) could play a huge role going forward.
Best: WR
Worst: RB
Playoffs: Yes (5 Seed)

Final Thoughts:
You may have noticed that my 6 to make the playoffs are the 6 that are in now… just with some shuffling around. Obviously things happen of the course of the season that make teams better or worse, but I can’t predict everything. The way I see it now, those 6 teams have the best chance to make it based on their current roster and record. Both the Sex and House divisions see a little more cushion between the top 2 and bottom two. That is going to make it tough for those other teams to catch up, even in the 3 wild-card spots. The fact that the Drugs Division keeps beating up on each other makes it better for those two teams in the Sex and House Division’s that don’t win the Division. That being said, after this week, the next three weeks will be non-divisional games which will be interesting and paint a clearer picture as to how the playoffs and especially the three wild card seeds will play out. One other thing I wanted to comment on was how I gave each team a Best and Worst starting position. This is strictly team by team and in some cases a teams ‘Worst’ does not necessarily mean that it is bad. Monday Nightshift and Cordarrelle Patterson are the best example of this. I do not believe that their QB position is that lacking, I simply think that the other positions are stronger. Which is a good thing for them, I guess. Also, I did not take Kickers and Special Teams / Defense into consideration for those picks. Anyways, good luck in the third divisional game this week, may everyone pick their optimal lineup, nobody get hurt, and the best team win.

SFFL – 2014 – Week 4

Here is the Menu for this week’s update:

Hefty week of trades. Since I am trying to do something different each week, this week I will show some love to the trades that happened thus far this week. I will break down each by the numbers on fantasysp and the ROS ranks for the players. KEEP IN MIND…. this does not take into consideration the teams involved, and how each player will be used (i.e. bye week fill in, injury fill in etc.). Also, I am pretty sure the rankings and values will change as the season progresses. Maybe we can revisit them at a later week. Just a little check on them. I’ll put a little comment on each as to why it seemed the trade was made, IMO. Finally, all ranking marked with a * are taken from FLEX since they are two different positions being compared.

Trade 1: DeAngelo Williams (RB) for Greg Jennings (SMD)
Quick Hit: SMD Needed a Running Back for the week and RB wanted WR depth.
FanasySP Winner: Williams (6.27) < Jennings (7.53) ROS Winner: Williams (129)* < Jennings (93)* Trade 2: A. Bradshaw and A. Johnson (CHAMPS) for Lacy and Quick (AIR)
Quick Hit: Air done waiting for Lacy, CHAMPS willing to wait.
FanasySP Winner: Bradshaw/Johnson (23.59) > Lacy/Quick (19.6)
ROS Winner: Bradshaw (21) < Lacy (9) -- Johnson (18) > Quick (47)

Trade 3: Crabtree (Buck) for Gronk (SMD)
Quick Hit: Buck needed TE, SMB surplus TE want WR
FanasySP Winner: Crabtree (16.29) > Gronk (14.25)
ROS Winner: Crabtree (26)* > Gronk (30)*

Trade 4: Boldin and Hill (Air) for K. Robinson and N. Paul (#LVU)
Quick Hit: Air wanted back-up TE and RB for week filler, LVU surplus TE needed WR depth.
FanasySP Winner: Hill/Boldin (16.39) > Robsinson/Paul (14.72)
ROS Winner: Boldin (85)* < Paul (66)* -- Hill (37) > Robinson (42)

Trade 5: Sproles and Decker (MM) for Ridley and Patterson (FU)
Quick Hit: MM selling high on Sproles for better WR core, FU surplus WR for better RB.
FanasySP Winner: Sproles/Decker (21.9) < Patterson/Ridley (27.71) ROS Winner: Sproles (15) > Ridley (29) — Decker (36) < Patterson (25) Trade 6: P. Manning and Wayne (CHAMPS) for Brady and D. Thomas (SMD)
Quick Hit: CHAMPS wanted better WR, willing to depart with Manning, see upside in DT. SMD Wanted better QB and has surplus of WR
FanasySP Winner: Manning/Wayne (35.41) > Brady/DT (32.4)
ROS Winner: Manning (1) > Brady (12) — Wayne (29) < DT (2) Final Word: As you can see none of these trades actually seem that bad, even on paper. When you take into consideration the teams needs and possibly how one may view a player over another. They are all just fine. None of the SP rating differences were greater than 5 besides the Sproles deal…. and I do not think SP takes PPR into consideration. So, guys like Sproles and Quick in these cases will get a little bump. The differences in ratings we’re… 1.26, 3.89, 2.04, 1.67, 5.79, and 3.01 and the 3.89 involved Quick and the 5.79 involved Sproles. So, there’s that.
